Sami is a K-State Extension Master Naturalist through K-State Research & Extension. and offers FREE workshops in the greater Kansas City area on restoring native wildflowers to the suburban garden. Her most endearing project is as coordinator of the team that manages the Pollinator Prairie, a gloriously restored toxic waste super-fund site in Olathe KS that’s now a 4-acre pollinator haven and demonstration native and host plant garden.

As a Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance, Sami specializes in Meditation, Pranayama (yoga breathing), Yoga Nidra (yoga sleep).

Her teachings touch the heart of our inner nature and allow it to shine, even during times of stress, anxiety and the deepest grief. Sami’s study of these healing practices began after her older son’s suicide in 2003. Her workshops help others find the peace and centeredness that has gently nestled its way into her heart, as her grief has blossomed into a deep understanding of our intimate connection to everything.

Her Pranayama inspiration originated with her first teacher, Patricia Gray. She studied Pranayama with Sri O. P. Tiwari of the Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute in Lonavla, India.  She has completed the yoga teacher certification through the Yoga School of Therapeutics, with an emphasis on Pranayama & Meditation.

Sami offers meditation, Yoga Nidra and mindfulness classes through Turning Point, The Center for Hope and Healing, a program of the University of Kansas Hospital.

She is certified as a Level 1 Instructor in Mindful Resilience for Trauma Recovery with the Veterans Yoga Project whose mission is to support recovery and resilience among veterans, active duty military, their families and our communities.
