"When I come to the final moments of my Pranayama practice, I am filled with gratitude for the sense of stillness and balance and spiritual connection that surrounds me.”

About Us  (alphabetically speaking …)

Sami Aaron

Each morning as Sami begins her Pranayama practice, the very first mindful breath draws her thoughts inside.  Her shoulders relax, her jaw releases, and her heart opens.  As she comes back to awareness at the end of her meditation, she re-enters the everyday world of brushing her teeth and feeding the dogs with a sense of peace and connectedness that is always present after that final Om.

Her Pranayama inspiration originated with her first teacher, Patricia Gray. She currently is a Pranayama student of Sri O. P. Tiwari of the Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute in Lonavla, India.  She has completed the RYT-200 certification through the Yoga School of Therapeutics, with an emphasis on Pranayama & Meditation.

Sami is the author of “The Gift of Compassion” published in Chicken Soup for the Soul, Grieving and Recovery.

Patricia Gray

Patricia Gray (500 RYT) has taught yoga for more than 20 years.  She began yoga in her teens, studying Transcendental Meditation with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.  Patricia co-directed one of Kansas City’s first yoga studios, The Yoga Center, and in 1999 she co-founded the Yoga Gallery.  She spent six weeks in India with Rotary International sampling yoga in its country of origin.

Patricia is certified to teach Bikram Yoga and has years of study and practice of Ashtanga and Vinyasa. She credits Lynn Moffitt and Max Strom as her most influential teachers. Working for a chiropractor for 6 years afforded her the skills to assist specific physical ailments and injuries. Her classes are a flowing Vinyasa emphasizing slow and patient breathing. This allows for an accessible, meditative practice designed to heal.  Patricia’s love of yoga, breathing, and meditation stems from experiencing and witnessing what practicing can create: full spectrum health benefits, inside and out.

Patricia has published “Louise’s Caveat Kitchen” and “Second Helpings” -  two delicious books of poetry!  Her joy of writing dovetails her passion for the process of learning and living.  Her poetry is feisty and humorous, but offers a tome of wisdom.

"Of all the yoga methods I have studied and practiced, the subtlety of meditating is the

most profound way to make "peace" an inner axiom to live

by.  All wars begin inside a mind that is at war with itself."
